Here at the Review, we just sampled Lavender as a flower–picking it up specifically for help with insomnia. While we found it to be a relaxing high, it wasn’t the knockout we had hoped it would be. This time out, it is Lavender OG coming to us in shatter form. Lavender OG takes the already relaxing Lavender high and includes the mellowness of OG Kush. Hopefully, this little addition will be what I needed to shove me off to sleep.
SC Extracts takes credit for this extract, and they seem to be positioning themselves to be included with the top names in the industry. Their shatter comes in the same typical small card envelope packaging and folded parchment paper for quality storage. There was no inner baggie like with HGH and Pure710 products, but Second Story keeps many of their concentrates back-stocked, keeping the product fresh.
While shatters tend to lose much of their terpene profile during the manufacturing process, this sample has a noticeably floral and herb garden scent. There also is a slight citrus and spice expression, like when we stuck cloves in oranges as kids. I find shatters to be visually beautiful, and Lavender OG doesn’t disappoint with a nice light yellow color.
While I’m often tempted to use shatters in my Cloud or G-Pen microG, they simply become too wet for my pen, and most of the oil ends up clogging my mouthpiece. They are, however, perfect for my domeless. As soon as Lavender OG approached the nail, it puffed into a cloud of vapor. I actually had to tone down my dabs because it expanded so much in the lungs. It did get a bit waxy in the recent heat, but it didn’t affect how it vaped one bit.
Although the hope was that the OG would help drag this indica into potent insomnia relief, it simply wasn’t the case. I felt faded and stoned–the classic OG feeling–but relaxation didn’t lead to sleep. Lavender just doesn’t have a heavy enough indica base. Regardless, it is a great way to end a stressful day or week. While I had it on hand, Lavender OG had become my Friday night strain, perfect for unwinding. I threw on some Netflix and dabbed out a little at a time. It was shockingly silly and mood enhancing for an indica and there are tons upon tons of physical smoothness to spare, creating a most enjoyable medication for stress, anxiety, and depression.
