The name of this bud jumped out at me immediately when I saw it on the board at Dank Depot. I’m a bit of a video game geek, and on top of that, I love obscure strains. Unfortunately, once I hit the grow boards, I realized that not much was known about this strain. After some research, I narrowed it down to King Kong, from Ed Rosenthal’s Super Bud, as one part, and a Banana strain as the other. Here again there was some possibility. Banana OG is a sativa dominant hybrid, while Banana Kush is an indica dominant. Based on the cerebral sativa effects present, I’m going to hedge my bet with the former.
These buds exhibit a light, almost yellowish tan color from the late harvest milky amber trichomes, although dotted by deep greenery. My eighth was made up of soft, lumpy nuggets. It was a skoochdry, but this made it break up easily. As for the banana, it is alluded to throughout this buds sensory characteristics. The smell is like under-ripe banana skin. It is fresh and tropical and just a bit bitter in the green hit. The exhale is spicy and harsh.
Donkey Kong Banana exhibits an array of sativa effects. I found it hard to think clearly, but the motivation is there. There is clear mood elevation and a very powerful cerebral high. I was delighted by the aural and visual effects. I love this type of sativa. It was psychedelic and intense, and even a seasoned patient might develop paranoia. I was unprepared, and Donkey Kong Banana proved to be a potent strain, quite a bit stronger than anything I’ve had in some time.
