The history of Purple Haze is as cloudy as your head after dabbing it. First there is the urban legend that is was named for the Jimi Hendrix song, which in turn was named after a potent LSD from the 60’s. I have also heard that it is a breeding of Purple Thai x Haze. However, perhaps the most convincing argument is that it is a Haze phenotype that shows purple coloration in cold temps. Regardless of where it originates, when exploring it’s personality, we go with what we know, and that is that it is principally expressive of some superb Haze effects.
This review marks my second time trying one of Second Story’s branded shatters. Similar to the first donation I made, it is a dark amber color, but shimmering and pure. It never got quite hard enough to break like glass, and instead stayed soft and malleable, making it easy to pull off dabs. The process of creating these fine, opaque shatters heats off most of the terpenes responsible for scents and flavors. However, this sample still retained some of Purple Haze’s earthy sweet nuttiness and pungent berry. This mixes with a sweet incense to create a dessert like profile.
This energetic sativa has a coffee like buzz, so don’t be afraid to use Purple Haze to start your day. And speaking of Haze, expect that soothing, dreamy stone that Haze’s are so known for. This dissociative effect is ideal for PTSD patients–if they can ever get it approved as a qualifying condition in more mmj states– or anyone suffering from depression or anxiety. By helping to eliminate your anxiety’s trigger, it can begin to allow you to live day to day free from your symptoms.
